Athletics: Gold and Silver for Storl and Gierisch at Indoor Championships

David Storl wins the shotput finals at the Indoor Championships in Leipzig, Germany. The former World Champion secures the titel unchallenged with his seasons best. The 29 year old triple jump athlete Kristin Gierisch gets silver. 

Winter sports: Silver medal for Denise Herrmann (DSV) at Biathlon WC

Denise Herrmann (German Ski Federation) wins the silver medal in pursuit at the biathlon World Championships in Antholz (Italy). Katharina Truppe (ÖSV) is third at the Ski Alpin World Cup in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia and a victory for Stefan Kraft (ÖSV) at the ski jumping World Cup in Tauplitz/Bad Mittendorf (Austria).

Ice Hockey: U19 and U17 successful at international tournaments

The German Ice Hockey juniors are successful at international tournaments: The U19 and U17 perform well and score match win and tournament victory rightly. 

Tennis: Laura Siegemund takes her team to the Fed Cup final round

Due to two victories of Laura Siegemund against the host Brazil the German tennis team qualifies for the final round of the Fed Cup, the most important competition for national teams in women´s tennnis.
